Ukraine National Pavilion at World Urban Forum (WUF13), Baku

For the design, construction, and delivery of the first ever National Pavilion of Ukraine at the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Azerbaijan, Prime World Expo was chosen. This became an effective means for Ukraine to promote its experience in housing reconstruction, urban resilience, and community recovery through interactions with foreign actors.

With the theme of “Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities,” WUF13 attracted a large number of people around the world, presenting a great chance for Ukraine to share their experience of reconstruction and vision for future urban development.

The Challenge

Developing a national pavilion at one of the most important events for urban development in the world demanded not only creativity in developing the storyline but also impeccable project execution. The pavilion had to convey Ukraine’s path of recovery while exploring topics such as housing recovery, resilience, accessibility, and sustainable urban development.

The project had to be accomplished under significant time pressure and amid international collaboration as well as with proper logistical support. Everything had to be thought through in detail in order to evoke emotions in viewers and effectively convey Ukraine’s accomplishments and future plans.

Our Solution

The team from Prime World Expo has created a unique exhibition design solution based on the idea of “Architecture of Restoration”. This pavilion presented the story of Ukrainian reconstruction in an interactive way by using architecture symbols, powerful visual effects, and a story of real people.

In the middle of the pavilion, there was a symbolical multiple-level construction symbolizing those who suffered because of war and who are now moving forward in reconstruction. The installation demonstrated both destruction and the reconstruction that is currently taking place.

Our team managed the entire project lifecycle, including concept development, 3D visualization, fabrication, logistics, installation, and on-site execution.
